Location: Charleston, SC

The electrical engineer is responsible for the design, development and maintenance of the company’s technology as it pertains to the electrical space. He or she will be responsible for a large scope of technology, from board level components to high power conduction. The electrical engineer will require a high degree of self-management. The electrical engineer will interface with other disciplines, including mechanical, software, firmware, manufacturing and quality. The electrical engineer will report directly to the Director of Engineering.

    Work Authorization: United States (Required). Currently not offering sponsorships.

    Required minimum requirements include:

    • BS degree in Electrical Engineering and 3+ years’ experience or equivalent
    • Experience with soldering (through hole and surface mount)
    • Proficient in PCB design and debugging using Altium
      • Job responsibilities include:

        • Digital design centered around microcontrollers and associated interfaces
        • Analog design for signal conditioning of low frequency sensor data
        • High power/high voltage design using triacs, mosfets, and relays with a focus on thermal management and safety
        • Generation of files and support packages for PCBA manufacturing and test
        • Maintenance of existing product electronics packages
        • Development of in-house electronics for lab use
        • Analyzing and presenting performance data to other teams and management

Location: Charleston, SC

The embedded controls software engineer is responsible for architecture, design, development, testing, and maintenance. Applications include IoT implementations, firmware, security, data visualization, back-end, analog and digital signal processing and control, API development, and front-end development. The software engineer will interface with other disciplines, including mechanical, electrical, firmware, manufacturing and quality. The software engineer will report directly to the Director of Engineering.

    Job Duties:

    • Responsible for the development and implementation of code for Heatworks products and technologies
    • Plans, improves and manages programming from inception to use
    • Allocating resources to complete programming projects, and designing detailed plans to ensure the code is functioning properly
    • Preparation and creation of technical documentation
    • Debug, troubleshoot system level problems
    • Design new micro-services and APIs
    • Interface with electrical engineering on board level controls
    • Collaborate with engineering team on circuit design
    • Test coding on various hardware and cloud software platforms
    • Participate in internal research and development of new technologies, and products
      • Minimum Skills:

        • B.S. Electrical Engineering; Masters in EE a plus
        • Ten (10) or more years of experience with embedded controls hardware and software
        • Proficient in C programming for firmware for real time operation
        • Microchip PIC, ST Microelectronics or similar embedded processor platform integration, programming
        • Experience with cooperative multitasking and RTOS
        • Embedded controls design and microprocessor integration
        • Analog circuit design and LTspice simulation
        • Experience with analog sampling and processing using LabView or equivalent
        • UART, Raspberry Pi, Bluetooth, wifi chipsets
        • PCB board assembly, soldering, testing, waveform analysis
        • Software debugging, bug management, manual and automated testing
        • GitHub or equivalent code document control
        • JIRA, MS Project or equivalent program management platform
          • Desirable Qualifications:

            • AWS Gateway, AWS IoT, AWS Redshift/DynamoDB
            • C#, Visual Basic, or Python front end application development
            • NodeJS, ReactJS
